During a recent fun fly and after flying my venture 60 all summer (30 flights at least), my landing gear mount plate failed on landing. It appears that the repeated landings, a few hard ones included, caused the plate to slit in the middle exactly where the landing gear is split. I would suggest that the split landing gear is putting stress on the airframe.
I have replaced the gear with a one piece aluminum gear. I also moved the wheels 1.5" forward. The results have been a venture 60 that is much easier to handle on the ground and takeoffs are smooth and easy now.
