On 8/11/2001, after several misques, serious hanger rash, and an assortment of pesky little problems, the Venture60 finally ventured upward. However, the Fox Eagle IV, not yet fully broken in, quit when throttling back for a landing.

The plane touched down just a hair too firmly and bounced.  The runway ran out and the plane floated into the fence at the end.  The following pictures depict the result.

The above photos reveal the break in the fuselage where the wing bolts affix the wing to the mounting plate.  The top view tries to show that many of the stringers are broken just behind the canopy.

Next, two photos show more of the broken stringers on this side of the plane.

And now, the other side of the fuselage shows where the wing bolt plates exploded off to one side.
